A Buyer’s Guide to Prepare for a Stress-Free Move

Prepare your move the right way – stress-free and in a timely manner!

Moving home can be a very stressful time for most people. There’s two different types of movers: the people who are organised and the people who leave everything to the last minute. For the people who are not organised, this is for you! Here are three helpful tips to make sure you have a stress-free move.

Declutter

Before you start packing your items, decluttering will be your new best friend. Think to yourself, if you haven’t used it in a few months or a year, do you really need it? Most households have wardrobes full of clothes that no longer fit them or have never been worn with the intent of never wearing it. You might as well go through your wardrobe and see what beloved clothing must part and what you are willing to keep for the next home. These items might be hard to part with, but if you no longer wear it, donate it to charity! This will make the moving process a lot easier to pack and unpack when you get to your new home and this helps make sure the items you take to your new home are actually used and won’t end up being packed away in a draw.

Start Packing Early

There’s nothing worse than coming to the moving out date and realising you have not started packing the house. By packing earlier, it decreases the stressful times you may experience during the whole moving process. Our advice: start packing the rooms that do not have everyday use like spare rooms, linen cupboards and non-bathroom essentials as it will save time and effort for the more-pressing rooms like the kitchen, occupied bedrooms, bathrooms, pantry, etc. If you have young children or know you will be doing most of the packing, if not all, identifying the urgent and not urgent rooms to pack will save you a lot of hassles when the time to pack comes.

Hire Professional Movers

Whilst you may be able to move all your personal belongings with the help of your family and friends, it might not be the best idea. Moving your clothes and basic items can be done yourself, but larger furniture like beds, couches, televisions, desks, etc. should be moved by professional movers to ensure everything is handled with the utmost care and the only one trip is needed! Although it may be expensive, hiring professional movers may be the best option to getting the move done faster and properly!
