Applying to purchase a home as a single parent can be a nerve-wracking experience, but it shouldn’t make renting for the rest of your life a better option.

The Family Home Guarantee for single parents was created to support you in the purchase of your family home.

The Family Home Guarantee takes some of the stress out of applying for a home by supporting eligible single parents with dependents to purchase a family home with a deposit as little as two per cent.

What are the benefits?

The Family Home Guarantee can assist single parents to buy their family home with a deposit of as little as 2%, regardless if they are a first-time buyer or previous owner-occupier. So if you have owned a home before, you are still eligible for this Initiative.

5,000 Family Home Guarantee places will be available to eligible homeowners from 1 July 2023 to 30 June 2024.

Who Is Eligible?

As a Federal Government Initiative, the eligibility criteria for applicants is the same across Australia.

You must be a Single Parent with at least 1 dependant (both parents of the dependant are eligible).
You must be a First Home Buyer or previous Owner-Occupier (not available for Investors). 
You must be an Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident.
