Setting Your New Year’s Resolution

Creating New Years’ Resolution are important so you can achieve your goals and hold yourself accountable.

The new year is less than a week away, so as we enjoy the celebrations of the holiday season, it’s important we take time to recharge for what’s to come. 2021 was a big year for the Australian Property Market, with record low interest rates, rising median property prices and buyer interest reaching unprecedented highs. As we venture into the new year, setting realistic and attainable resolutions is a must! Here are five ways you can plan new year resolutions that matters.

Be Specific

If you’re looking to reduce your spending habits in the new year, make sure you’re specific by highlighting what you want to save for and how much you want to save. For example – “I want to save towards a house deposit. My goal is to save $5,000 in the year of 2023, so I will need to save $267 per week. Make sure that the goals you are setting yourself are reasonable, achievable and most importantly, measurable.

Creating Measurable Goals

Ensuring your goals are measurable will keep you motivated and on the right path. A great tip is to write down or check off your milestones as you achieve them, to keep track of your success. There’s not a better feeling than reaching a milestone and crossing it off your list!

Cancel Bad Habits

It’s time to wave goodbye to those bad habits! Not only will they put a damper on your new year, but they can also stunt your future growth and the outcomes of your newly set goals. Not all habits are hard to get rid of, but small sacrifices each day can be beneficial in the long run. For example, if you find it hard to keep your home looking clean most of the time, start by cleaning as you cook or preparing for your next day, the night before. It’s time to put you first and that starts with feeling happy in your home!

Don’t Go At It Alone

Now is the perfect time to get your friends and family involved with your efforts! Showing your seriousness to make a change and earning the support from close friends and family can be a great motivator. If you have a friend who might be interested in joining you, get them involved! Not only will you both be able to grow together, you’ll also be helping someone else improve their lifestyle.

Celebrate Small Successes

It’s easy to lose sight of your goals if you’re not celebrating your small wins! It’s important you give yourself a little pat on the back for reaching milestones for an extra bit of motivation to keep going. Remember – you’ll reach your goals in due time. Focus on the positive things that will happen when you take action to achieve your targets e.g. If I save $1,000, I’m one step closer to owning my very own home.
